What to do in Winter

Whether you find yourself coming in summer or winter, Fairbanks has a lot to offer for such a small community. During the winter months, there is a rich cultural offering, despite the cold, such as drama or theatre, and First Friday events.

No matter when you come, please visit our seasonal suggestions so you can plan enough time to experience some of what Fairbanks has to offer.

Museums/Educational

Fairbanks Convention & Visitors Bureau with its educational displays and a gift shop with Alaska made items. An absolutely beautiful building in downtown Fairbanks near the site of the first settlers on the river in our River City of Fairbanks.

60 miles drive Northeast of Fairbanks to the local hot spot. $20.00 for pool pass. Ask us for a towel to take for your soak!

There is an Ice Museum at the Chena Hot Springs Resort with an ice bar and overnight options.

UAF Museum is proud to connect the public with Alaska’s science, arts, history, and cultures. So much to see from animal exibits, prehistoric creatures and modern art. The building itself is also a work of art.

Alaska’s ice sculptures frozen indoors for you to enjoy and learn about the art of ice sculpting. There is also an Aurora movie available to watch.
